About Us:
Driving tractor trailers since 1976, Ralph Tufano began
shipping horses in 1982 on Long Island, NY while working for
a Belmont Park based horse carrier. He founded Meadowbrook
Transport in 1984 by purchasing a new, 15-horse trailer to
go along with the one tractor trailer that he owned. In 1986 he purchased
a second truck and in 1999 he moved his base from Long
Island, NY to Allentown, NJ. By 1990
Ralph had expanded to five tractor trailers and in 1995 he
decided to move his base to Delray Beach, Florida. Today, he
operates 6 state of the art 15-horse trailers pulled by late
model Kenworth Tractors. The trailers are manufactured in
Meadowbrook’s shop by our own craftsman. Built to
specifications Mr. Tufano designed to ensure the horse has
the most room available in the industry, in addition to the
best ride, thus creating the most relaxed, comfortable
atmosphere for the horse.
Meadowbrook Transport provides year
round shuttle services between the Northeast and Florida,
with layovers available. In
addition, they provide ground transportation services for
some of the largest transport agencies in the world, serving
International airports such as JFK, NY, Miami, FL, Newark,
NJ and Lexington, KY. Handling renowned mounts for the World
Equestrian Games or a new purchase from Europe, they handle
these wonderful horses from aircraft to USDA quarantine
stations here in the US and finally to their new homes.
Licensed & insured in both the United
States and Canada allows Meadowbrook to provide safe,
reliable service to clients throughout North America.
Operating on a year round basis, they
have two units based out of NJ serving their import business
and local clients in the Northeast. One unit is based in
central Florida for year round shuttle service along the
eastern seaboard. One unit is based in south Florida for
airport and local service and two units seasonally based in
south Florida October thru May. One of these two units is
dispatched to Long Island, NY happily working for our
professionally campaigners who travel the circuit in the
Northeast. The other dispatched to Central New Jersey for
our local clients.
All our units are managed by experienced
horseman as well as skilled drivers, providing our customers
with the safest and most comfortable transport in the
industry. Whether it’s going to a show, bringing your new
equine friend home, or handling yearlings for some of the
largest breeding facilities on the eastern seaboard, your
horse is our most precious passenger and we treat each one
like they are our own. Our drivers are capable of handling
the rambunctious youngsters as easily as the seasoned show
jumper who knows the drill. They are horseman.
